Week 8: Researching & Pre-production

Posted on September 15, 2010

This week in class we looked at researching for your final assignments. For those of you who missed the class we went to the State Library to gather sources for the development and research phase.

Before next week you will need to upload an annotated bibliography to your blogs with five references using the Harvard Referencing Style.

To find out more details on what an annotated bibliography is have a look here. In this post it states that there are a few different types of annotated bibliographies. I am going to be looking for a paragraph on each reference with full sentences – not dot points. In short, it is an evaluation or review on how good the resource is. You might like to look at how reliable the source is based on the experience of the author, who published the works? When? Is it peer reviewed? Is the information up to date?

For your final essays please use the Harvard Referencing Style with in text referencing. Referencing is an essential skill to learn to support your own ideas and also to show that you have researched what you are writing on. I’ll be marking much tougher on the next assignments for referencing. I’m more than happy to help you out with this before you submit so let me know if you need a hand.

Your videos need to have content that you have recorded yourself for this project as well as from the ABC Pool website. Before next class storyboard your ideas thinking of what you would like to shoot taking into considerations angles, colours, location etc. We will be looking at these in class and it will need to be handed in with your final essay as part of the design process to see how the idea evolves over time. Write a brief schedule of what you will need to do to achieve this.

Have a look at a few of these videos on storyboarding. While we’re not making feature films they’re good for inspiration.

See you on Tuesday,
