Hey all,

Here is your ‘to do before week 4 list’.

1.    The Week 4 Readings.
2.    Tweet your response to the readings for discussion
3.    Read your fellow classmates’ blog posts on their soundscape ideas. You will find the blogs on the sidebar to your right under ‘blogroll’ (If you’re missing mail me).
4.    Write a post on your own blog which includes a reference or comment to at least two of your classmates’ posts and link to them.
5.    You will also need to include a link to at least one external reference that you can include in your essay.  Remember, as we discussed in class that while you can reference other creative works the weight of your essay will come from including “the facts” and being able to explain how you reached your final soundscape. Have a look at these RMIT Referencing Guides and Writing Guides if you are finding it hard to get your head around how or why we are essay writing.  You can email me if you have questions too.
6.    A question was asked at the end of class today that some of you may have missed. It was “Does it have to be based in Victoria?” The answer is no. I know that some of you are having some interesting conceptual ideas around the lost places project. The short answer is that you need to be able to ‘pinpoint’ it on a map? If you can answer yes to the question, ‘Can I pinpoint my lost place on a map?’ You’re on the right track. If no, think about how you can get it on a map. Include this in your blog post.
7.    In week 10 you will all be doing presentations on your ‘adopted blog’. Applying the list of ‘What Makes A Blog Good’ that we came up with in class today. Choose a blog that you would like to follow over the semester.
8.    Personalise and apply ‘What Makes A Blog Good’ to your own wordpress blog.
9.    Start bookmarking pages on your delicious account that you can reference in your essay
10.    Keep thinking about your soundscape and how you are going to record it. It is due in week 6. If you need to hire gear start looking at what you need, how to get it and let me know asap if I need to help you with this.

See you next week,
